Disney Cruise Lines
Disney Cruise Lines is an excellent family-oriented cruise for parents with young children, pre-teens, and early teens, as well as Walt Disney junkies. Adults traveling without children may wish to adopt someone else's before coming abroad. All Disney Cruise Lines cruises include a visit to Disney's privately developed 1,000 acre island in the Bahamas called Castaway Cay where cruisers will enjoy a protected lagoon for water sports, shops, dining pavilions, bicycles, and separate adults-only family, and teen beaches. The ships are able to dock at the island to avoid tender service which saves time. Disney Cruise Lines offers a family cruise on the state-of-the-art 83,000 ton Disney Magic capable of hosting nearly 2,500 passengers in 875 staterooms. The staterooms are larger than average and range from about 175 square feet up to the almost 900 square feet Disney Suites. Nearly three-quarters of the staterooms are outside and almost one-third have verandas. Most of the staterooms sleep three but some can accommodate as many as four or five comfortably. All staterooms include tubs and showers, remote-control TVs, private safes, hair dryers, phones with voicemail message service, split bathrooms, and privacy dividers separating bedrooms from the sitting areas. There are also two luxurious Disney suites and two 945 square-foot one bedroom suites that can sleep five. In addition, Disney Cruise Lines boasts 18 one bedroom suites of over 600 square feet. Of the 18, 14 can sleep five and 2 are wheelchair accessible. The Disney suites are comparable to those on cruise ships in the luxury category. The dining experience aboard Disney Cruise Line vessels is unique because it permits guests to move to a different theme restaurant each night. Dinner companions and their wait staff move together to three different locations, including Lumiere's which is a more traditional Art Deco-motif dining room offering Continental/French cuisine; Parrot Cay which features Caribbean fare in a colorful, tropical decor;; and Animator's Palate which transforms over the course of the evening from a black and white room to a kaleidoscope of lights and colors. The dining experience on Disney Cruise Lines has improved since operations began and is likely to get better considering the reputation of Disney Cruise Lines. Disney Cruise Lines offer a traditional Disney-style experience at sea that appeals to families who want to enjoy a Disney vacation and prefer to combine a short cruise with visits to the theme parks. Activities and entertainment are unquestionably aimed at families and younger children. Different activities are planed for children based on age groups. Disney Cruise Lines still has some work to do in this are but is actively seeking passenger feedback and implementing suggestions. The changes for the better were very evident after six months and families taking their first cruise give Disney Cruise Lines high marks. |
